Look, when you’re doing a comic about wrestling Centaurs (called WRASSLIN’ CENTAURS, perhaps surprisingly), you need a special brush. I was looking for something gritty that would give that analog look to my Procreate-d pages. Everything within Procreate looked way too clean, almost sterile.

Then, thank you comics friends, I found Retro Supply Co. and their Standard Pen pack. OMG, Dry Fountain Pen!! The slightly rough edges on this brush looked like I’d been using a well-worn nib deep into the late hours. Okay, my characters were set, but what about their distressed environment?

The Inferno Ink pack had the kind of brushes that opened up new possibilities for my comics. “Jaggy Old Brush,” “Practically Dead Ink,” and “Crunchy Nib” live up to their names! They create the authentic look of vintage analog richness while letting me get the results I want with Procreate.

Finally, my comic’s logo needed a strong typeface. RSCO’s “Derailed” was exactly right with the perfectly imperfect look of the brushes.

Big shout out to Retro Supply Co. for giving thorough information and creating great tutorials for their products. I don’t even bother looking at other brush or paper supplies; Retro Supply Co. has everything I need to make my comics come alive.

Since I’ve got it for Procreate my workflow improved a lot! I simply love it! Very good brushes! Absolutely a must have!

Four stars because there isn’t a super smooth tapered brush BUT there are some great inking brushes here! Go thin to super fat with the same brush, add realistic drips or shade with dry brush — all that is here.
