To give you a little bit of backstory, on the morning of June 4th, 2024, my close friend from high school, Zachary Blake Henn, who we all referred to as Zac, was tragically killed in a car accident on his way to school. He was only 17 years old and he was a couple of weeks away from finishing his junior year. The news of his passing hit our tight-knit community hard and his death greatly affected me, my friends, and others who knew him. Days after his death, people from the community started paying tribute to him artistically, which inspired me to make a tribute of my own. Zac loved cars, so I thought it would be fitting if I created a tribute inspired by vintage car decals from the 60s. Specifically, those made by Ed “Big Daddy” Roth.
I have used RetroSupply products for other projects and have always been impressed with the quality, so it was a no-brainer to use the Standard Pen set to create that vintage look I was striving for.
The Toothy Fountain Pen was my personal favorite from the set and was the main pen I used to create my illustration.
Overall, the set is very versatile. I feel this product is great for both beginning artists and those who are more advanced in their skills. No matter who you are, I strongly recommend this pen set.
